Ikea raises its sales in Spain by 2%, to reach the 1.5 billion

  The direct competition of Ikea has gone from being furniture stores -which also- to platforms like Amazon. Its online sales are spiking all over the world, amounting to 5.2% of its turnover . Although it is still a small number, it represents a growth of 50% compared to last year. In Spain, the percentage of Internet sales is higher than the global average: 8% of the total, despite the fact that its online store has been launched this year.

  The CEO of Ikea Spain, Petra Axdorff, has indicated during the presentation of the results that they "study" to open a store in the center of Barcelona , similar to the two that already exist in Madrid -one dedicated to living rooms and the other to bedrooms- , although he did not specify where or when. In our country, the turnover for the last fiscal year was 1,497 million euros , representing an increase of 2.1% in one year.

This data means that Ikea Spain accounts for 4.3% of the global turnover for the group, a small figure taking into account that the Ingka Group - formerly known as the Ikea Group - reached 34,800 million euros in the 30 countries in which it operates. present, as informed by the world CEO Jesper Brodin at the press conference in Madrid. This figure represents an increase of 4.7% compared to the previous year.

The Swedish multinational, founded 75 years ago, has 367 stores spread across 30 countries, twenty of them in Spain. They employ a total of 9,272 employees, 596 more than last year in its "fifth consecutive year of increase in staff", say from the company.

By regions, where Ikea generates the most turnover is Catalonia (360.8 million), followed by Madrid (352 million) and Levante (Murcia and Valencia, 216.8 million).
